Nós passamos 5 dias na rua Natingui. De quinta a domingo, dirigi até o escritório incrível da Wieden+Kennedy em São Paulo (aliás, tantos obrigadas!) e sentamos ao redor de uma mesa para trabalhar neste projeto. No domingo, quando passei pela rua, havia uma outra mesa na Natingui. Ela estava na calçada e Gerson Rocha, de 77 anos; Amaral, de 44, Líbero, de 82 e Luiz Batateiro, de 55, estavam sentados ao redor jogando dominó. Eles começaram a jogar há 30 anos, quando o Gerson (o de cabelos brancos) tinha um bar na rua. O bar fechou, mas eles continuaram jogando. Todos os domingos, eles colocam a mesa na calçada. Eles trazem comidas e bebidas. Eles nunca jogam valendo dinheiro. E eles já perderam uns 20 amigos nesses 30 anos. “Você sabe por que eles morreram, Bárbara? Morreram porque estavam vivos.”
We spent 5 days at Natingui street. From Thursday to Monday, we went into Wieden+Kennedy amazing office in São Paulo (thanks so much, guys!) and sat around a table to do some great work. On Sunday, when I drove up the street, there was another table at Natingui. It was standing on the sidewalk. Around it, Gerson Rocha, 77 years old; Amaral, 44 years old; Líbero, 82 years old and Luiz Batateiro, 55 years old, were playing domino. They started playing it 30 years ago, when Gerson (white hair) had a bar on the street. The bar closed, but they kept playing. Every sunday, they set a table on the sidewalk. They bring food and drinks. They don’t play for money. And they have lost about 20 friends who used to play with them throughout the years. “And do you know why they died, Barbara? Because they were alive.”

Bárbara Soalheiro é absolutamente apaixonada por mesas. E tanto, que um dia ela pensou que seria boa ideia ter um grupo de profissionais sentados ao redor de uma mesa para trabalhar em um projeto realmente legal. Ao que parece, um monte de gente gostou dessa ideia também.
Bárbara Soalheiro is absolutely in love with tables. So much that she came up with this idea of having a group of great professionals sitting around a table and working on an amazing project. It turned out a lot more people liked that idea too.
